Sumter woman reported as missing found dead

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies say a woman who was reported as missing was found dead.

Jessica Christine Alexander who was reported as missing was found on Monday morning, October 20.

Alexander was reported as missing last week Friday, October 17, and deputies are considering her death as suspicious.

Her body was discovered around 10 a.m. in the area of Pinewood Road and Cody Road, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, and an autopsy will be conducted.

Deputies say until the results the case is being treated as suspicious.

“We had hoped we would find Ms. Alexander alive, but it was not to be,” Sheriff Anthony Dennis said. “Our missing person investigation has come to a close, but now we must find out what happened to her.”
