10th anniversary of Columbia Homeless Court

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Columbia Homeless Court.

The Columbia Homeless Court helps participants restore driver’s licenses, clear old convictions, and replace essential documents removing barriers to employment, housing, and education.

Officials say the court can mean the difference between long-term stability and continued homelessness.

Since it began in 2015, officials say similar courts have been established in cities across South Carolina.
