Mayor Al Koon funeral held Tuesday

CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO)– The late mayor of Chapin was laid to rest on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

The funeral for Mayor Al Koon took place Tuesday at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church.

He was laid in state at Chapin Town hall Monday, Oct. 20 for the public to pay their respects.

Koon who served as mayor since 2021 died Friday, Oct. 17, at the Lexington Medical Center after admitting himself into hospice care.

He was 74 years old at the time of his death.
