RCSD: Fatal Bayfield Road shooting determined as justifiable homicide

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a shooting that happened in the 8100 block of Bayfield Road was determined as justifiable.
On Monday, October 20, deputies responded to Bayfield Road in reference to a shooting.
When deputies arrived at the scene, an adult male was located with a gunshot wound, according to RCSD.
Deputies rendered aid to the male until EMS arrived and took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Additionally, deputies detained the alleged shooter and a witness at the scene who reported that the man kicked in the door of their apartment forcing entry inside.
They told deputies that is when the shooter retrieved a firearm and shot the man.
The shooter and witness remained at the scene after the shooting to speak with investigators.
RCSD investigators were able to conclude that there was sufficient physical evidence of forced entry from the scene of the shooting.
Investigators determined from the physical evidence and interviews that the shooting would be considered a justifiable homicide, according to the sheriff’s dept.
