U.S., China agree to framework deal

(CNN)– Sunday, October 26, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent outlined the framework for a U.S.-China trade deal to avoid imposing an additional 100% tariff on Chinese imports.

President Trump is set to meet with Chinese Leader Xi Jinping on Thursday, October 30, in South Korea on the final leg of Trump’s three-country tour of Asia.

Halting Chinese exports of fentanyl’s precursor chemicals was part of the framework U.S. and Chinese negotiators reached.

On another component of the framework Bessent said China will make “substantial” purchases of U.S. soybeans.
