Man dies after reported domestic dispute in Sumter County

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies say a man died from a gunshot wound following a reported domestic dispute in Sumter County on Friday night.
The sheriff’s office says around 10:40 p.m. on Friday, October 31, Sumter County Dispatch received a report of a shooting at a home on Charleston Avenue.
When deputies arrived to the scene, they saw one male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputies detained Tammy Elvington, who told investigators she had been the victim of domestic abuse.
Elvington was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where she is being held pending a bond hearing.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
