Holiday spending expected to top $1 trillion
(CNN)– Despite the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, holiday spending is expected to rise this year.
The National Retail Federation forecast predicts holiday sales will reach a trillion dollars.
Last year the total reached $976 billion.
Despite a projected rise in spending, experts say shoppers are more price sensitive and will be searching for deals.
The government shutdown could also make holiday spending uneven across different income brackets.
