1 killed, 1 wounded in Picardy Drive shooting

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A young woman was killed and a juvenile was wounded when someone fired into a home on Picardy Drive early Tuesday morning, says SCSO.

Sumter County deputies say around 5:36 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, dispatchers received a 911 call about a shooting at a home on Picardy Drive.

When deputies arrived to the home, 18-year-old Jaikailah Richardson was found dead.

And a juvenile victim who was also shot and was taken to Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

As of Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, the juvenile’s condition was listed as stable, according to Sumter Co. deputies.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis said investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that they have identified a person of interest.

“A young woman’s life has been stolen, and it is a tragedy. Our investigators are committed professionals, and I am confident their work will lead to an arrest,” Sheriff Dennis says.
