Richland County Council members celebrate Sunset Drive upgrades completion

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Council members are celebrating the completion of upgrades to Sunset Drive.

Leaders say it’s a major transportation penny project for the City of Columbia and the district four area.

The $5.2 million upgrades include the addition of a five foot wide sidewalk along the North side of Sunset Drive from River Drive to Elmhurst Road.

The project also includes enhancements to the roadway and nearby curb, and gutter, as well as stormwater systems and retaining walls.

Construction for the project began in April of 2024.
