RCSD: Arrest made in homicide at Nearview Avenue case

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leon Lott says an arrest has been made in relation to a fatal shooting on Nearview Avenue.
Jordan Lemmon was arrested in reference to the fatal shooting that happened in the 1700 block of Nearview Avenue on Tuesday, November 11.
An investigation revealed that the victim who was identified as 18-year-old Dion Briggs was attempting to purchase a firearm from Lemmon.
During the interaction, Lemmon shot and killed the victim, according to Richland County Sheriff’s Dept.

Investigators say Lemmon was located by RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force (FTF) in Sumter.
Sumter Police Department assisted RCSD’s FTF with conducting a traffic stop on Lemmon and taking him into custody.
Lemmon was taken back to Richland County and booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
He is being charged as an adult with murder, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a handgun under 18.
Also, he is awaiting a bond hearing in General Sessions.

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Richland County deputies are investigating a homicide Tuesday night.
According to investigators, around 7 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting at the 1700 block of Nearview Avenue, where they found a man in front of a residence with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
He was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.
Deputies say the suspect(s) fled prior to their arrival. At this time, investigators believe the murder is an isolated incident.
Coroner Rutherford identified the victim as 18-year-old Dion Briggs, of Columbia.
