Therapist arrested after alleged abuse of student at private school

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)– Sumter County deputies say a therapist has been arrested for allegedly abusing a student that was under her care.
Jada Yvette Gibbs, a therapist with Multi-Disciplinary Therapy was taken into custody after her employer reported an alleged incident involving a student at Wedgefield University for Kids to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, an official at Wedgefield University for Kids had evidence suggesting abuse.
The school notified Multi-Disciplinary Therapy, which then contacted law enforcement.
Gibbs is accused of being seen on camera aggressively grabbing a child by her upper arm, and by the back of her neck.
Following an investigation, a warrant was issued for Gibbs’ arrest, and she later turned herself in at the sheriff’s office.
Gibbs was booked at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
She was later released on a $10,000 bond.
