56-year-old man charged after Friday morning shooting incident, say Columbia Police

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia Police say a 56-year-old man has been charged in connection with the non-fatal shooting that happened on Middleburg Road.
Mark Baumgartner was charged with assault & battery of a high & aggravated nature & possession of a weapon during a violent crime after the Friday, Nov. 14, shooting.
Baumgartner is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC), says Columbia Police Dept.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia Police are investigating a shooting incident that happened around 10:45 a.m. Friday morning, say police.
Officers say the isolated shooting happened in the 2700 block of Middleburg Drive around 10:45 a.m. in a parking lot adjacent from the Planned Parenthood building.
A male was shot and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The victim is in stable condition.
Police say a person of interest has been detained.
Planned Parenthood commented on the shooting saying, “all Planned Parenthood South Atlantic staff, patients, and volunteers at the health center are safe and accounted for and were not involved in the incident.”
The president and CEO of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic released a statement, you can read below:
“This situation is still developing, and at this moment, we don’t know the full circumstances behind this shooting. We do know that all of our staff, patients, and volunteers are safe. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic has strong security measures in place, and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies as they manage the situation.”
