(WCIV) — Former Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill is set to appear in court on Monday.
Hill, who rose to a level of notoriety during the closely-watched Alex Murdaugh double murder trial, is facing a litany of charges, including perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct. The perjury charge was from Richland County, while the other charges were from Colleton County.
Hill is expected to appear before Judge Heath Taylor in Calhoun County.
The former clerk was charged following a year-long investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division into her conduct.
She has been accused of allowing a photo of Murdaugh in a holding cell to be taken to promote her book on the trial, giving herself bonuses, and using county money to buy dozens of lunches for her staff, prosecutors and a vendor.
