Deputies find more than 150 grams of meth after traffic stop

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies say a traffic stop involving a Sumter man on Sunday resulted in his arrest on charges of failing to stop and possessing methamphetamine.

On Sunday afternoon, Dec. 7, a Sumter County deputy saw a traffic violation on Geddings Road and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

The driver continued along Geddings Road, making two turns and throwing a plastic bag out of the window before coming to a stop, according to deputies.

Christopher Wayne Bell Jr., who was identified as the driver was arrested on a charge of failure to stop for a blue light.

During a search of the vehicle, the deputy say a block of suspected methamphetamine weighing about 78 grams was found.

Deputies also recovered the bag thrown from the vehicle, which contained about 79 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Bell was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and later released on an $80,000 bond.

He was also charged with trafficking in meth or cocaine.
