USDA approves SNAP restrictions

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Candy and unhealthy drinks can no longer be purchased using SNAP benefits in South Carolina.

Wednesday, Dec. 10, the Governor’s Office announced the USDA approved the governor’s request to remove the items from the list of eligible foods under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as Food Stamps.

South Carolina joins 16 other states with similar bans.
