USC assistant professor creates teaching tool for nursing students

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — A little innovation, a 3D printer and a desire to help nursing students be fully prepared for their future careers, led an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina College of Nursing to create a special teaching tool.
Professor Stephanie Schaller specializes in pediatric nursing education and says the heart is a difficult concept to teach. That’s why she created the CardioEducator, a heart-shaped puzzle. Students use the tool to learn how congenital heart defects can impact newborns.
