Gamecock legend Steve Taneyhill passes away
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Gamecock football legend Steve Taneyhill has passed away.
The Spartanburg Co. Coroner’s Office confirmed the former quarterback died at the age of 52.
Taneyhill’s cause of death was not released, however according to multiple reports, he died following a long term battle with illness.
Steve Taneyhill is widely regarded as one of the most beloved South Carolina players of all time.
Known for his trademark mullet and bravado, Taneyhill lead the Gamecocks to their first ever bowl win over West Virginia in the 1995 Carquest Bowl.
Taneyhill is still the Gamecocks all time leader in completions and touchdowns.
