SC AG launches investigation into Roblox

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina’s attorney general is opening an investigation into one of the most popular online games for kids.

Tuesday, Dec. 16, Alan Wilson’s office announced he has issued a civil investigative demand to Roblox Corporation pursuant to the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act.

Wilson says other states have recently filed lawsuits alleging that Roblox is saturated with sexualized content, while not having adequate age-verification or parental consent controls.

In a statement in response to those lawsuits, Roblox says on its website, while it does not comment on pending litigation, they are constantly working on new safeguards and have taken an industry-leading stance on age-based communication.
