SCSO: Man arrested in possession of stolen vehicle, firearm

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies says a person was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly attempting to flee and resist arrest.
At about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, a deputy with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
When the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop and activated emergency lights and siren, the vehicle drove into a backyard, and the person attempted to flee on foot.
Deputies say the person who was identified as Kevin Tirrell McBride resisted arrest but was detained and taken into custody.
Additionally, the sheriff’s office says McBride is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two firearms, one of which was reported stolen.
McBride was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he remains in custody after being issued a $16,250 surety bond.
