Instacart reaches $60 million settlement
(CNN)– The Federal Trade Commission has reached a settlement with Instacart.
The FTC accused the grocery delivery company of false advertising and harming shoppers.
Thursday, Dec. 19, the agency announced Instacart will pay $60 million in refunds.
The money will go to customers charged for Instacart services without their written consent.
The company also agreed to stop what the FTC called deceptive practices.
Previously Instacart offered customers a free trial, but it failed to disclose the company would charge them to have their groceries delivered.
