Midlands Fireworks Ordinance
CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO)– As people ring in the new year, the counties and cities in the Midlands would like to remind residents about the fireworks ordinances.
CITY OF CAYCE
City of Cayce officials say the discharging or shooting of fireworks within the city limits is permitted between the hours of 10 a.m. on Dec. 31, and 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.

The city also wants to give people firework safety tips.
Firework Tips:
- Always use fireworks outdoors and have a bucket of water and hose nearby in case of accidents.
- Designate a safety perimeter where onlookers, homes, and flammable materials can’t be hit with fireworks.
- Supervise children when they are handling sparklers.
- Never use fireworks when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
- Please be considerate of all neighbors including veterans, pets, and small children.
LEXINGTON COUNTY
Fireworks are allowed on New Year’s Eve until 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Anyone shooting fireworks after 12:30 a.m. may receive a $150 noise violation, and on New Year’s Day, fireworks are allowed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
RICHLAND COUNTY
Richland County is also reminding people about the fireworks ordinance in the county.
- Using fireworks in unincorporated areas of Richland County from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m. violates the ordinance.
- Fireworks are restricted within 600 feet of a school or church, aside from private property.
- Violation of the ordinance could result in fines up to $1,000.
- Fireworks can be used until 1 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
