107% tariffs on Italian pasta no longer set to take effect

(CNN)– The U.S. Commerce Department is rolling back proposed steep tariffs which were set to take effect on over a dozen Italian pasta makers later this year.

In October, the Commerce Department announced a 92% tariff on the pasta.

The Commerce Department says the final rates stem from an investigation into some Italian producers selling pasta at unfairly low prices.

A Commerce Department official says the decision to recommend lower rates comes after the pasta producers addressed many of the concerns raised in the review.
