Police: Man charged with felony following fatal accident; victim identified

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal DUI crash in downtown Columbia Sunday night.

Coroner Naida Rutherford identified the victim as Malcolm D. Johnson, 29, of Columbia.

According to Columbia Police, Randall Miller, 29, was impaired when he ran a stop light at Gervais and Park Streets and hit Johnson and a woman who were both crossing the street using the crosswalk.

Johnson died on scene from his injuries and the woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Miller is charged with Felony DUI Resulting in Death, Felony DUI Resulting in Great Bodily Injury and Open Container.

He’s being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he was denied bond.
