DPH reports 26 new measles cases in the Upstate
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– SCDPH says measles cases continue to grow in the state in relation to the Upstate Outbreak.
According to the Department of Health, there are now 26 new cases in the state since Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
The new cases now bring the total to 211.
Nineteen of the new cases were associated with exposures in known households and previously reported school exposures, and four resulted from an exposure at church.
The source of one case is unknown, and two are still being investigated, says DPH.
South Carolina Department of Public Health says there are currently 144 people in quarantine and seven in isolation.
Based on the new cases, DPH has identified public exposures at two schools: Sugar Ridge Elementary and Boiling Springs Elementary.
Churches: Tabernacle of Salvation Church, Slavic Pentecostal Church of Spartanburg, Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg, and Ark of Salvation Church, were also identified as exposure places.
