HHS freezes welfare for 5 blue states
(CNN)– The Trump Administration is freezing more benefits for low-income families in five democrat-led states.
The freeze applies to about $7 billion for temporary assistance for needy families also known as welfare.
It also affects more than $2 billion for the Child Care Development Fund, and millions for the Social Services Block Grant.
The affected states are California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services accuses those states of widespread fraud, but no evidence appears to support that claim.
