Lexington Co. coroner identifies pedestrian after Platt Springs Road collision
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision that happened Tuesday morning, said the coroner’s office.
The collision happened in the 5400 block of Platt Springs Road in the Lexington area on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at around 6:45 a.m.
According to Coroner Fisher, Russell Keith Coufal, 73, of Lexington, was crossing Platt Springs Road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on the same road.
Coufal was pronounced dead at scene due to the injuries sustained during the collision.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the collision.
