Lawmakers debate new abortion bills
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Inside the State House lawmakers began a debate on two new abortion bills.
Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2026, members of a House Judiciary Subcommittee met to discuss the ‘Prenatal Equal Protection Act’ which would ban abortion at any point and classify it as homicide.
The second measure would make it a crime in South Carolina to use abortion-inducing drugs.
Current South Carolina law bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.
