MLK events in the Midlands
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Here is a list of events across the Midlands celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
City of Columbia:
The City of Columbia will host their 38th annual MLK Service on Monday, January 19.
It will take place at 4 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Green Street.
Prior to the service there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Stone of Hope at 3 p.m.
King Day at the Dome:
Annual King Day at the Dome is coming back to the State House on Monday, January 19.
The prayer service at Zion Baptist Church starts at 8 in the morning, with U.S. Senator Cory Booker at the keynote speaker.
Followed by a march to the State House at 9:30 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m.
Loretta Coleman Community Connections:
Loretta Coleman Community Connections is hosting a MLK celebration event on Monday, Jan.19.
Doors open at 1 p.m. and the event starts at 2 p.m. at the Living Word of Deliverance Temple Worship Center on Winyah Drive.
Columbia Museum of Art:
The Columbia Museum of Art is recognizing MLK Day with free admission and special programming on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.
There will be a storytelling celebration called “Continuing Dr. King’s Dream” at noon.
Columbia Urban League:
Columbia Urban League will hold its 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Keeping the Legacy Alive” Breakfast on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 8 a.m at the Brookland Baptist Conference Center.
The keynote speaker is Rick C. Wade, senior vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
