RCSD investigating overnight shooting that injured two juveniles

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an overnight shooting that injured two juveniles, said deputies.

On Friday, January 16, 2026, around 9:30 p.m. deputies responded to a shooting incident in the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road.

When deputies arrived to the location, they found two victims being treated by the Columbia-Richland Fire Department.

Deputies said, there was a 14-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the hand, and a 12-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the hand and another gunshot to the lower body area.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital by EMS.

As the investigation is ongoing, RCSD asked that anyone with information in reference to the shooting, call the sheriff’s department at 803-576-3000 or submit a tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
