SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Saturday morning traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a woman for possession of cocaine following a brief chase, said deputies.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy saw a vehicle driven by a person whose license was suspended and attempted a traffic stop on Broad Street.

The driver is accused of accelerating, and ignoring the deputy’s blue lights and siren in an attempt to leave the area.

Then the deputy followed the driver to Peach Orchard Road where she eventually came to a stop.

Deputies identified the driver as 58-year-old Anna Maria Piucci.

A substance that was confirmed to be cocaine was found, according to the SCSO.

Piucci was cited for driving with a suspended license and arrested for possession of cocaine and failure to stop for blue lights.

She was taken  to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and released on bond the following day.
