World’s 2nd oldest stamps to be auctioned

(CNN)– A block of the world’s second official postage stamp is going up for auction in May, and is expected to fetch millions of dollars.

The “Great Britain Two-pence Blue” stamp of Queen Victoria was issued in 1840.

The mint block of 48 stamps was found in 1945 in a desk set in a Scottish nobleman’s palace.

It’s been called the greatest stamp discovery in modern post-World War Two history.

The auction house expects a selling price between five and seven-and-a-half million dollars.
