KCSO investigating Tuesday afternoon shooting after one person shot

Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Tuesday afternoon shooting after one person was shot, said deputies.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Tuesday afternoon shooting after one person was shot, said deputies.

KCSO deputies were responding on Goins Lane in Elgin around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, where they learned that one adult male had been shot.

The suspected shooter left the area before deputies arrived.

The victim who was taken by ambulance for medical treatment, was able to identify the suspect prior to leaving the scene.

Also, the victim told deputies he had gone to the location to collect a debt when a physical altercation occurred.

Deputies said the physical altercation ended with him being shot in the shoulder.

Investigators confirmed that neither the victim nor the suspect lives at the Goins Lane address.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim continues to receive medical care, and KCSO investigators are actively working to find the suspect.
