Kershaw Co. coroner identifies person after well drilling incident
KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Kershaw County Coroner David West has released the identity of the person who died after a well drilling incident, says the coroner’s office.
911 received a call around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, about an electrocution in the Bethune area.
According to the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office, it was an industrial well drilling incident.
The victim was identified as 25-year-old Sheldon Moree, from the Chesterfield area.
Moree was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by Kershaw County Coroner’s Office and OSHA.
