Dominion Energy crews responded to power outages
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– As freezing rain turned to rain over the weekend things went much better than expected.
That’s according to officials with Dominion Energy and the South Carolina Emergency Management Division.
Matt Long says Dominion crews responded to scattered power outages on Sunday, Jan. 25, and Monday morning, Jan.26, totaling around 2,400 cases across the Midlands.
With another cold week ahead he recommends keeping your thermostat on 68 degrees to prevent your furnace from overworking itself.
But if that’s too cold for you, Long suggests at least dropping your current setting by a few degrees.
And while we dodged more severe conditions over the weekend Steven Batson with SCEMD says it is always best to stay prepared.
As the cold weather continues he also reminds everyone to check on your neighbors and loved ones and make sure they have a back-up plan as well.
