ELGIN, S.C. (WOLO)– The SC Emergency Management Division says USGS has confirmed an earthquake happened in Elgin.

According to USGS, the earthquake was a 2.3 magnitude earthquake that was about 4.2 miles of Elgin, that happened at 3:32 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2026.
