RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– RCSD says Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center guard has been arrested in connection with the assault of an inmate.

Cohanskie Goodson, 30, was arrested after deputies say he was using excessive force on an inmate at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Just before 3 p.m. on January 22, 2026, deputies were dispatched to ASGDC at the request of an investigator working at the jail.

It was reported to deputies that a corrections officer within the jail used a knee strike to an inmate’s face, causing a laceration above his eye and rendering him unconscious.

The corrections officer did not render aid or immediately seek medication attention for the inmate, according to Richland Co. Sheriff’s Dept.

Investigators identified the corrections officer as Goodson.

Goodson was charged with assault and battery and misconduct in office on January 28, 2026.

He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and was later released on a $10,000 PR bond.
