Two dozen displaced following Sunday morning apartment fire

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–Columbia firefighters say 24 people were displaced following a Sunday morning apartment fire.

Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins tells ABC Columbia News, crews responded to the 2-alarm fire at around 1 a.m. Sunday at Bent Tree Apartments on the 1000 block of Bent Tree Rd.

Chief Jenkins says no injuries were reported, however one resident had to jump off of a balcony to escape the blaze, he was uninjured.

According to Jenkins, of the 16 apartments in the building 15 were occupied.

Jenkins says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
