Americans feel worse about finances

(CNN)– Americans may be feeling a bit better about the job market, but their household finances tell a different story.

That’s according to new data released Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

It shows the share of Americans who say they’re worse off now financially than they were a year ago just hit its highest level in more than two years.

The report also found growing pessimism about the year ahead, with more Americans expecting their financial situations to deteriorate.
