Workers are getting lower raises

(CNN)– The average worker is getting a pretty crummy raise.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the employment cost index rose by point-seven percent last quarter.

That’s the number that tracks how much employers spend on wages.

And its pace hasn’t been this weak since 2021.

The index saw an annual raise of 3.4%.

If you factor in inflation, that’s just a .7% raise.
