Kraft-Heinz pauses breakup plan

(CNN)– One of the world’s largest food companies is staying intact at least for now.

Kraft and Heinz were both already huge companies when they merged in 2015 to become a packaged food behemoth.

After years of seeing its market-share chipped away by smaller competitors, the company decided in September to split.

But, a new CEO took the reins in January.

And now, he says he thinks the company’s challenges are fixable and is halting the split.

Kraft Heinz now plans to invest $600 million into research and marketing to boost its profits.
