SLED charges Newberry County woman with forgery
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged a 35-year-old with forgery, say officials.
Shalanda Edwards was charged with forgery (value $10,000 or more and two counts of forgery – value less than $10,000) on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Charges against Edwards came about after the South Carolina Department of Insurance requested a SLED investigation.
Edwards is accused of altering medical bills, and sending the information to her auto-insurance company after being involved in a collision that required medical attention.
She admitted to law enforcement that she altered the medical bills.
Edwards was booked into the Newberry County Detention Center.
