Inflation hits 21-month high

(CNN)– Americans are feeling the pinch of inflation.

New U.S. Commerce Department data shows inflation hit a 21 month high of 2.9%.

Delayed data from December shows the personal consumption expenditures price index jumped .4% in December.

Consumer Spending Data shows shoppers definitely noticed.

Their spending rose just a 10th of a percent from November.

Personal income remained flat and savings actually shrank.
