VA walks back disability rule

(CNN)– The Department of Veterans Affairs has walked back a so-called interim rule pertaining to disabled veterans.

The proposed rule would’ve determined how much a veteran would receive on their monthly disability payments.

It would have calculated a veteran’s disability level by how well they function on current medication for an injury or illness not based on the impairment alone.

The VA said that analysis would have been taken into account when awarding benefits.

But the rule sparked blowback from veterans across the country, fearing a reduction in payments.
