COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina State University (SC State) is looking to hire a new chief of campus police. According to SC State’s website, the full-time position was posted Feb. 19.

The university will accept applications through June 30.

The job posting, which indicates a bachelor’s degree is required, says the position “…offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of our vibrant campus community.”

ABC Columbia contacted SC State about the status of the current chief, Richard Johnson, but officials said they cannot comment on personnel matters.

Two weeks ago, two people were killed and a student injured after an on-campus shooting. There is no word on whether the chief of campus police job opening is related to the incident.
