COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former President Joe Biden attended a reception held in his honor Friday night in Columbia.

The reception, hosted by the South Carolina Democratic Party to celebrate his 2020 South Carolina primary win, took place at the Columbia Museum of Art.

The former president addressed the crowd, touting his accomplishments as the nation’s 46th president and telling the audience that President Trump is “trying to erase my record.”

Mr. Biden specifically mentioned his administration’s efforts in health care and job creation. He ended his nearly 25-minute speech encouraging the audience to show the power they have by voting.

“Time to get up. Get up. Get up. Continue to fight,” said Biden. “Continue to fight to be the nation we know we can be – fair, equal, honest, decent – a country where we give hate no safe harbor. We treat everyone with respect.”

Several Democratic leaders from across the state toasted the former president following his speech. More than 200 people attended the event.
