Teen arrested after stabbing investigation

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a non-fatal stabbing incident, say police.
According to officers, Justin A.E. Reyes is accused of stabbing of a 58-year-old man around 6:30 p.m. on Monday night.
Officers responded to the March 2, incident in the 2700 block of Wheat Street in relation to a disturbance that later got upgraded to a fight in progress.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found a man with multiple stab wounds and began first aid before EMS arrived.
CPD believes the 58-year-old victim was walking his dog when Reyes started stabbing him unprovoked.
Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook says Reyes is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
He remains at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
A judge set a $10,000 bond with conditions to not have any direct or indirect contact with the victim.
He is also restricted from being near the victim’s home or place of worship and the incident location.
