Deputies: Man wanted in multiple shootings arrested
Orangeburg, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg Co. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says a man wanted in multiple shootings was arrested after a shooting Friday.
“This individual acted as if there were no consequences harming others, and had and illegal weapon to do so,” the sheriff said. “We have some news for him and any others committing these crimes – there are severe consequences.”
Deputies say Mark Harper, 21, is charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and trafficking methamphetamine.
According to investigators, those charges are related to a Friday morning shooting in Orangeburg that sent one man to the hospital with, what is believed to be, a non-life threatening injury.
Investigators say he is also charged with attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with a March 7 drive-by shooting on Chestnut Street in Orangeburg that injured one person.
In addition, deputies say he is also charged with a January 31st armed robbery that left one shot several times.
“I want the community to see his picture and see who is behind the madness,” Ravenell said.
“Beside him is the madness shown in the long list of charges against him.”
