USC unveils new brain health center
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–Wednesday morning officials with the University of South Carolina held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new brain health center.
Officials say with this new facility, patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other cognitive conditions will no longer need to travel out of state for specialized diagnostics and treatment.
According to the university, the re-imagined 65,000-square-foot facility on USC’s Health Sciences Campus will serve as a hub for the statewide Brain Health Network.
The center will also be home to advanced imaging, including a 3-Tesla MRI and South Carolina’s only 7-Tesla MRI dedicated to patient diagnostics
Officials say the facility will begin seeing patients next month.
