CCSO: Man arrested for 2025 murder

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Clarendon County deputies have arrested a man in connection with an April 2025 murder after a multi-agency investigation, says the sheriff’s office.

Markeem Williams was arrested on Wednesday, March 18, and charged with the death of Tyrese Najea Lawson.

Williams is accused of shooting and killing Lawson.

Tyrese Najea Lawson was reported as missing by family members to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office initially.

Then later investigators explained Lawson was last seen in Clarendon County and was reported as missing there on April 13, 2025.

Lawson was found on April 14, 2025, in a wooded area on Pocalla Drive, law enforcement says.

On April 21, 2025, his vehicle was found behind an abandoned home on Porter Road in Clarendon County.

The investigation which involved multiple agencies, including the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Sumter City Police Department, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, ATF Charleston, the Columbia DEA, and the Columbia FBI has been open since April 2025.
