SC lawmakers propose pause on state’s gas tax
COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO)– Two SC lawmakers are proposing bills to suspend the state’s gas tax as fuel prices surge during the ongoing Iran conflict.
Republican State Representative Mark Smith is proposing a 30-day pause while Democratic State Senator Russell Ott says he plans to introduce similar legislation.
Both say the suspension would offer short-term financial relief to residents.
As of today, AAA says the average price for regular gas in South Carolina is $3.68 per gallon.
